Tulbagh Factory Temporarily Closed Following Covid Cases

Following on from the statement issued on 7 May, RFG has temporarily closed its fruit canning factory in Tulbagh.  The Department of Employment and Labour (DOL) has insisted that the company makes use of a third-party to conduct a deep clean of the site and this is being carried out today.  No decision has yet been made about the timing of the reopening of the operation.  The company is acutely aware of the national imperative to maintain a reliable supply of food products.  Canned foods are proving to be particularly important during this difficult time.  The Witzenberg region has however become a Covid-19 hotspot and the company continues to engage with both the DOL, the Department of Health and the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition to ensure that it is able to comply with its national responsibility without compromising employee or community safety.
