Name Change To RFG Holdings Reflects Multi-brand Strategy

Shareholders have approved the change of the listed holding company’s name from RFG Foods Holdings to RFG Holdings.

CEO Bruce Henderson said the objective of adopting the name RFG is to create an identity and branding for the holding company which is distinct from the main operating subsidiary, RFG Foods, and the group’s main trading brand Rhodes.

“The name change reflects the strategy we have followed over the past decade, and particularly since our listing in 2014, of diversifying from a single brand into a multi-brand food producer with a portfolio of brands including Rhodes, Bull Brand, Magpie, Squish, Pakco, Bisto, Hinds and Southern Coating. Our market leading brands are complemented by private label product ranges packed for major South African and international retailers.”

He noted that the name change allows the company to entrench RFG, which is also the company’s share code on the JSE, as a trusted investor brand among shareholders and the broader investment community.

The company will commence trading on the JSE under the new name on 1 April 2020.
