RFG Completes R30 Million Acquisition Of Protein Snack Business

RFG has recently completed the acquisition of a protein snack food business from RCL Foods Consumer (Pty) Ltd for R30 million.

The business produces a range of protein snacks for Woolworths, including meat balls and chipolata sausages.

The new business has been integrated into the Western Cape ready meals factory at the Groot Drakenstein production hub adjacent to the group’s head office.

The new protein snacking range is complementary to the snacking business acquired through Alibaba Foods in 2015 which manufactures Halaal Eastern food products including samoosas, rotis and spring rolls.

The ready meals factory at Groot Drakenstein was recently expanded to incorporate the snacking business. This formed part of the group’s multi-million Rand capital investment programme over the past two years aimed at expanding capacity and enhancing production efficiencies. The investment in new and upgraded facilities has been mainly for new product categories which the group has entered through acquisitions over the past five years since listing on the JSE.
